Individuals like yourself who are attempting to find a way to deal with cellulite have probably been bombarded with countless ways to end the fight and get smoother, healthier skin. The only problem is attempting to distinguish fact from fiction when looking at cellulite treatments.
Firstly, let’s look at what causes cellulite. Cellulite is a combination of many different parts including genetics, toxins, lack of blood flow, swollen layers of fat tissue and even the thickness of your skin. While you cannot do anything about your genetic makeup or the thickness of your skin (women generally have thinner skin then men and therefore get cellulite more often) you can help treat the other symptoms. One of the biggest downfalls of an effective cellulite treatment is the ability to treat the multiple symptoms contributing to the cellulite. Let’s take a moment and look at the different types of treatment available.
There are many different types of surgical procedures available for cellulite treatment. Many of them revolve around the removal of fat from the effected area. While fat cells do play a part in the formation of cellulite they are not the cause. Most surgeries are temporary at best. The fat cells are eventually replaced and the process starts again. There are also treatments to tighten the skin and remove that dimpled look. Unfortunately that process as well doe not remove the cellulite from the effected area. Only disguise it.
The same can be said for detoxification treatments, the use of “slimming or smoothing” undergarments and forms of muscle toning using electrical stimulation. Once again these will generally offer you a quick fix, but in the long run the problem will still remain.
Now, there are effective cellulite treatments out there that don’t require surgery or hefty medical bills. When you were first reading this article I listed some of the reasons that cellulite does appear. Treating just one or two of those reasons will help slightly, but you will more then likely not be happy with your results.
Effective cellulite treatments should contain most of the following qualities if not all of them:
• Reduce waste water and promote healthy circulation
• Encourage the growth of healthy tissues including connective tissues
• Strengthen the blood vessels and improve circulation to the effected area
• Remove built up harmful toxins
• Moisturize the skin properly to promote exfoliation and increase flexibility
Most of the available over the counter cellulite treatments are creams that you apply directly to the effected area. Generally creams are the best medium for this sort of treatment because they absorb quickly, effect only the area that they are spread on and some things needed for a well made product are better applied on the skin.
Now that you know a bit more about what cellulite is and what to look for in effective cellulite treatment take you time and research your options.
